Bugatti Tourbillon Unveiled: The V16 Hybrid Era Begins

Bugatti has taken the wraps off the Tourbillon, the long-awaited successor to the Chiron, and it represents a dramatic evolution for the Molsheim brand.

At the heart of the Tourbillon sits an entirely new naturally aspirated 8.3-litre V16 engine, a departure from the Chiron's iconic quad-turbocharged W16. Combined with three electric motors, the powertrain produces a combined 1,800 horsepower.

The V16 engine alone develops 1,000 horsepower and revs to 9,000 rpm, with Bugatti's engineers claiming it is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to a production car. The electric motors add an additional 800 horsepower, with the system capable of pure-electric driving for short distances.

Just 250 examples will be produced, each priced from approximately 3.8 million euros. Bugatti reports that the entire production run was spoken for within weeks of the car being revealed to selected clients.

The Tourbillon also features a revolutionary interior with an analog instrument cluster that is a mechanical masterpiece, taking direct inspiration from fine watchmaking.
